Lo ha anunciado él mismo hace nada en su propio Twitter y lo ha confirmado inmediatamente la Academia. Billy Crystal vuelve por novena vez a presentar la Gala de los Oscar tras la salida de Eddie Murphy ayer y el despido de Brett Ratner a raíz de sus polémicas declaraciones. Ya lo hizo de 1990 a 1993, en 1997, 1998, 2000 y 2004, pero sus ‘cameos’ en la gala han sido, si cabe aún más numerosos, hasta el punto de considerársele una pieza clave del show.

 

«Presentaré los Oscars para que la joven de la farmacia deje de preguntarme el nombre cuando voy a recoger mis medicinas«, ha comentado jocosamente el cómico.

 

El show será producido finalmente por Brian Gazer (se confirman los rumores) y Don Mischer, que ya produjo la gala del año pasado. Interrogado sobre su inclusión en el proyecto, Gazer ha comentado que «Estamos de acuerdo en que algunos de los mejores shows han pivotado alrededor de la comedia, ya fuera con Bob Hope o con Johnny Carson. Esa es justo la dirección que creemos que debe seguir el de este año«.
